Friday 28 October at 8pm

Composer Mikko Taylor has assembled his colleagues – cellist Nicholas Dinnerstein, pianist Illya Filshtinskiy, and violinist Katha Zinn – for a concert at the Chapel of Our Lady Restoration, Friday 28 October 2011. The concert will begin at 8pm, and all are invited to a pre-concert discussion that will begin at 7:30. There is a suggested donation of $15.
The program shall include chamber works of Dmitri Shostakovich, Alfred Schnittke, and Mr. Taylor, as well as solo works by Messrs. Dinnerstein and Filshtinskiy.
Mr. Taylor, a Cold Spring shopkeeper and lifelong resident of Brewster, has had his works performed in the New York area and in Cleveland. As a pianist, he has performed throughout New York and the Hudson Valley, as well as in Toronto; Avila, Spain and St. Petersburg, Russia.
Mr. Dinnerstein, a native New Yorker based in Boston, is very active in contemporary, baroque, and popular music genres. He performs extensively in and around New York, Boston, and greater New England, and has been a guest soloist at the Thailand International Composition Festival.
Mr. Filshtinskiy and Ms. Zinn have performed extensively as a duo since 2007, in Taiwan, the Netherlands, Canada, and the United States. Based in Brooklyn, they have been particularly active in the New York area. Both are graduates of the Juilliard School. Mr. Filshtinskiy has performed extensively internationally; in New York, he has performed at Steinway and Carnegie halls, among other venues, and he has recently begun to perform his own compositions. Ms. Zinn has performed, aside from various venues in New York, at Boswell Hall in Boston, and at the Aspen Music Festival.
All four players are graduates, or currently graduate students, at the Mannes College of Music in New York.
Anyone interested is urged to come for an interesting, enriching musical experience.
